Welcome to the Atkins Library Special Collections page.  My name is Kristin Foster, and I am an intern for the Libary during the Fall 2009 semester.  My task for this semester is to create an exhibit that illuminates the lives of three 19th century women who made health or hygeine contributions to North Carolina.  I want to create an exhibit that displays what these women accomplished, and how they were able to make civic reforms.   I also plan to place these women in the context of 19th century Mecklenburg County medicine.  My advisor for this project is Katie McCormick, the Assistant University Librarian for Special Collections.
